Description

Intended for advanced ESL students, this course is designed to prepare for reading college level material effectively and efficiently and responding to it through writing. Students will learn to write explanatory, persuasive and argumentative essays at a college level. Students will develop and refine the grammar and editing skills necessary to detect and remedy common ESL writing problems. While the focus will be on accuracy, students will also include logical analysis of the components of a composition and editing for improved clarity and effectiveness. Pre-Requisite: ESL 041 or appropriate placement score and approval of ACCESS Program Director. Class hours: 6 Lecture/week.(2 units)
