Description
A basic introduction to social policy,which will include historic and current trends of social welfare services. Emphasis will be given to the role of social policy in helping or deterring people in the maintenance or attainment of well-being, and the impact of social policy on social work practice. Policy formation and analysis in the context of American political process will be examined. Specific policy areas to be addressed include: income maintenance, housing, health, child welfare, aging, and economic and social justice. Prerequisite: SWK 300. Prerequisite: SWK 300.
