Description
This course provides an in depth examination of mental health and psychopathology from a social work perspective. Students will examine the history of mental illness, common mental disorders and current research. The course will also address differential diagnosis and differences between the biopsychosocial model and the medical model. Students will examine how environmental factors interact with genetic predispositions in some populations and examine effective treatment options, as well as current issues in the field of mental health. Prerequisites; SWK505, 515, and 525. (3 units; Fall)
