Description

This course situates the study of world languages and cultures within a biblical framework. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus tells his disciples to "go and make disciples of all nations," a command known as the Great Commission. Students will analyze how the Great Commission and other biblical accounts (the story of Creation, the Tower of Babel, Christ the Incarnate Word, Pentecost, etc.) bear on the study of world languages while also evaluating how faith shapes language and culture and vice versa. Students will also develop intercultural competence skills, equipping them for service and careers in diverse contexts. The course is taught in English. Students cannot earn credit for both WLD 300 and WLD 300G.
