Description

This course will introduce the student to basic and clinical pharmacology as related to the promotion of health and alleviation of disease. The course will consider drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination, and pharmacodynamic effects on the human body. Prescription drug classification, function and uses will be introduced with emphasis on the impact medically prescribed drug classification, function and uses will be introduced with emphasis on the impact medically prescribed drugs will have on the patient. Students will increase their understanding of drug design and action, as well s their understanding of disease and pharmacoltherapeutic treatment. Prerequisites: BIO 330 and either BIO 344, 353, or both BIO 153 and 163. (4 units; Fall, even years)
