Description
This course examines the unique needs of displaced populations, specifically refugees and immigrants. Social work interventions specific to refugee trauma, adaption and integration are addressed, with a focus on strengths-based, empowerment theory. The course also addresses the diversity of the immigration experiences, acculturation, ethnic identity, and many issues facing immigrant and refugee families and youth, as well as best practices for culturally competent Social Work practice. Students may only earn credit for SWK 576 or SWK 576G. (3 units; Spring)
